You are of course, free not to fund it for any reason you'd come up with, because this is of course, your money.

The Kickstarter had to happen in may because we have been planning for it to happen in May, and it could not be delayed due to organisational constraints. We want to get 3.0 polished enough, and we felt there's plenty of betas to show that we didn't sit still since last year.(Hence why said beta's are on the kickstarter page). The QT5 port was absolutely necessary from a technological point of view, but it's also the cause of the majority of bugs. That doesn't mean they won't happen, or do not have to happen. It's very dedicated openGL work, and this guy has proven before that he really is a specialist in openGL, so we have faith in him.Īt the same time, QT5 port and other maintainance things are not things we think is nice for people to fund. We actually have a google summer of code student who is going to be working on the OSX stuff. As it is now, it looks like v3 will be out after the latest KS concludes. I'd be more inclined to contribute to a KS, if there was already a proven 3.x version that shows the results from the previous KS campaign. For me, it's an issue of using paid apps that I've been using for years and works great on Mac OS X versus a (to me) new app with a learning curve that has features still to be implemented. And I have apps already that does the comic art/lettering job(s) well and until the OpenGL issues are resolved and there's a golden release of v3, I have very little to inspire me to learn yet another app. Apple, who uses a lot of Open Source stuff, iirc).Īside: while it's nice that there's a new KS campaign going on, I kinda question the timing, as I've not really seen anything on the Mac side that shows any improvement over the past year or so. Seems that Apple and Microsoft should have something in place for Opensource devs (esp.

Now Krita beta starts up okay.Ībout the dev. Closed the security pane and quit system prefs. Went back into system prefs and restored security settings back to where I had 'em (it was from app store and identified devs). Clicked okay when asked about opening an app downloaded from internet. Change to "anywhere" and then (very important) close the system prefs. In Privacy& security, log in using admin password.
